A central theme in my as yet-unpublished novel is the notion of transformation through hardship. A brilliant phrase, one I first heard in ‘The Day The Earth Stood Still’ describes this idea best ‘…only at the precipice do we evolve.’
It’s true of most people that the harder life pushes, the harder we push back. Life has pushed me pretty hard recently and, whilst my responses have been less than exemplary, I believe that my personal upheaval and the events following have made me a little wiser.
Hopefully this shows in the new stories I’ll be posting.
